Childrens parties are like any other event, the better the planning the better the result. In some cases you have to be prepared well in advance particularly if you want to host the party in a venue outside your home. Well run party facilities are in demand and some are booked for months in advance. Remember most parties are held at the weekend which limits choice considerably.
The age of your child will also dictate the level of planning required. Up to the age of 3 most parties are more for the parents. Yes it is important that the chil’d friends are invited but the main priority is the blowing out of the candles. Most children up to the age of three are more than happy to be fussed over by close friends and family. At this age preparing to feed and entertain the adults is more of a priority.
Once you child gets to the age of 4 years old and upwards they will be very aware of TV characters and films. This awareness will influence the choice of party theme. Up to the age of 7-8 most children love a party theme. It should be fairly evident from the toys your child likes and the TV programmes he or she watches what themes they will be interested in.
Luckily there is plenty of online party shops that can supply the latest themed party supplies and deliver them to your house or place of work.
Our advice is selection a date and theme as early as possible 6-8 weeks is perfect. You should then have plenty of time to organise the invitations, decorations etc.
For kids up to the age of 4 our experience indicates that fancy dress is not a requirement. Some kids may like a pirate or princess party. In such cases a
small amout of dressing up is OK but do not put pressure on parents to dress the kids in full blown fancy dress costumes.
We will continue with more posts on the topic of childrens parties in the coming weeks and months.
