There are loads of things to remember when organising a hen party. This job normally falls to the head Bridesmaid or a good friend. The golden rule to remember is, the Hen gets what she wants (within reason !) One of the decisions that will need to be made is a theme for the night out. It can range from modest and discrete to loud and very pink, it is totally up to the Bride to Be and close friends. So here are some suggestions for a hen party theme, all of which will require some fancy dress.
MOULIN ROUGE
This gives everyone a chance to get involved. There is no ducking out of this theme. Moulin Rouge Fancy Dress is readily available and best of all it will
also keep you warm when moving from restaurant to pub to night club. However what we like best about this theme is that it can be as consevative or as daring as you like. Not everyone in the hen party will want to be running around in skimpy sailor fancy dress. With a Moulin Rouge theme the hens can choose from something as simple as a feather head dress and wig to a full blown red moulin rouge outfit with suspenders and sexy stockings. The choice is yours.
OCCUPATIONS FANCY DRESS
If the Bride likes the idea of a themed fancy dress hen party then there is no shortage of choice. Clerical fancy dress is always popular with nun costumes always in demand. The costumes available range from standard black dresses and head gear to a sexy vinyl short dress and whip. This option can be relatively inexpensive as it is not necessary to purchase a full costume. Most hens will have a short black dress then all you have to add is headresses.
Military fancy dress is another theme that falls under this category. The costumes available under this heading are mainly sailor suits. Perfect for a summer hen in a costal town.
1970′s Theme
Search your parents wardrobe for this theme. Bell bottom trousers, droopy moustaches and afro wigs are what you need. The great thing about this theme is the fact that if you pick the right night club you can get the DJ to keep the 70′s theme going. Not many hens go for a 70′s look, it can be more a stag thing but that is what makes it so much fun. Then of course there are ABBA costumes.
Before deciding on a theme and sending the invitations you should think carefully and consult with the “Head Hen”. You need to be sure that a she actually wants fancy dress to be a part of the celebration. Some hens just don’t like it. The venue you are planning may also determine the theme, if any. An expensive restaurant may not appreciate a group of hens in
moulin rouge fancy dress dancing there way through the restaurant. The last thing you want is difficulty getting into a venue. It can ruin a night. So check well in advance that the venue is comfortable with a fancy dress theme.
If the Bride to Be is OK with a fancy dress theme and the hens are up for a laugh we highly recommend putting in the effort. It brings a whole new dimension to the hen party and gets everyone in a party mood right from the start.
