Remember the good old days when Wonder Woman could extract the truth using her lasso , or how she tore around on her invisible jet, not to mention when she used her tiara as a boomerang, incredible stuff.  Well fear not you can re live those days by getting  a wonder woman fancy dress costume. Hosting a Fancy Dress Party

Fancy dress parties are always very popular and if you are hosting one make sure you put some additional effort into the preparations. Remember your guests will go to the trouble to dress up so you should do the same with the venue.

1. Invitations
Make sure it is very clear that the party is a fancy dress affair. It is best to have a theme such as cowboys and indians, pirate or wonder woman, to name but a few. Try to use an invitation that complements the theme.  Make sure you post the invitations in plenty of time. Three weeks before the party if possible. That way people can organise costumes.

2. Entrance
As people arrive greet them with something special. Why not take their photo against a themed backdrop. Scene setters are perfect for this or even better, some life size cardboard cut outs. How about a Dalek from Doctor Who or John Wayne. There is sure to be a cutout to suit your theme. This will really impress your guests as they join the party.

3. Ice Breakers
Try to get people involved straight away. Ice breaker games are perfect. One idea that works well is to get index cards and cut them in half, but not in a straight line. Mix the cards together and as people arrive give them one half of a card. Their job is to finfd the person with the other half. Giving a prize to the first people to complete the task adds a bit of fun to the proceedings.

4. Food

Food and drink is a very important part of any party. For a fancy dress party try to select food and drink that is appropriate for the theme. A wonder woman theme should be fairly straight forward when it comes to preparing food. There is no distinctive food associated with the theme. However you should consider how the food is presented. For example if you are serving food buffet style decorate the table using the theme colours of red, white and blue. Get some additional fancy dress accessories such as wonder woman tiaras and place them on the table. Table confetti is also very effective. The main point to remember is that you are trying to keep all elements of the party consistent with the theme.

5. Entertainment

Entertainment at a party comes in all shapes and sizes and ranges from nothing at all to professionally organised activities. From personal experience I think the choice of entertainment is influenced by how well the guests know each other. For parties where guests know each other well it is probably best not to interrupt the flow of the party too much. Anything more than backround music is probably an annoyance.

If on the other hand you are hosting a large party where people do not know each other well and your aim to to encourage people to mingle and get to know everyone else then you will definitely need a series of activities or games to get everyone in the mood to party.
